How we check our facts

Driving test rules changed substantially in 2025, and much of what ranks in Google still describes the old system. This site exists to be the version that is actually right. That only works if the checking is disciplined, so here is the method.

Primary sources only

Every rule on this site (notice periods, change limits, fees, refund exceptions) is checked directly against the relevant GOV.UK service pages before publication. Statistics come from the DVSA’s published statistical data sets, and we name the specific table we used. Where we quote a commercial service’s price, we state the date we checked it.

We treat news coverage and other guide sites as leads, never as sources. If a claim cannot be traced to GOV.UK, the DVSA, or the service being described, it does not go on a page.

Dated verification

Each guide shows the date its facts were last checked (currently 8 September 2026). When the DVSA changes a rule or publishes new monthly statistics, we update the affected pages and the date. An undated claim about DVSA rules is a stale claim waiting to happen; the date is your evidence that someone looked recently.

What we are and are not

This site is an independent guide. We have no connection to the DVSA, no access to the booking system, and nothing to sell you. We do not run a cancellation checker, we do not take referral fees from any checker service as of 8 September 2026, and if that ever changes the disclosure will sit on the page, next to the link, where you can see it.

We name commercial services only to describe what they charge and how they work, based on their public pages and DVSA guidance. We do not score or rank them.

Corrections

If we have something wrong, we want it fixed and are grateful for the nudge. Contact details are on the about page. Corrections are made in place and material ones are noted on the page.
